Manager Notes: Our dedicated win v Bangor

Matty Roberts took his time to give his verdict on our 4-1 win over Bangor on Friday evening.

"A hugely pleasing night for everyone involved with the football club. As we know, It’s been a tough a few weeks and start for the club and it was really disappointing that Tuesday's fixture wasn’t able to go ahead. But so much praise has to go to all the ground staff and chairman who have worked tirelessly day and night to get us back playing at home, and I think Friday night was definitely worth the wait for everyone.

The game had a bit of everything and I'm sure even the neutral enjoyed what they saw.

Huge credit to Bangor, they certainly played their part and made it so difficult for us all night and asked us so many questions.

I think anyone looking at the scoreline would think it was a fairly one sided game, but that certainly wasn’t the case.

We knew before the game If we were to take anything, we would have to defend so well- they’ve had such a strong start to the season and we were never going to have it our own way.

We always felt that we could cause them problems with the attacking threats we had fit, but knew we needed to see a different side to us when out of possession and defending our box- testament to the defence and Robbie, they were superb all game.

But massive credit and praise to all my players, they all stood up to everything and showed real fight and resilience as a team.

I know the red card was huge turning point, and we certainly didn’t use it to the best of our advantage. The game seemed to shift in momentum all evening with both teams having some good periods throughout and this was most evident especially around both penalty misses.

We just seemed to be caught between committing and protecting and we didn’t manage this part of the game well with the ball. But this is something we know we can improve on and learn from for future situations.

There was no doubt that once they missed their penalty, we had the confidence and belief again to go and kill the game off & see it out.

Huge praise to the lads off the bench- they were superb in the impact they gave us- especially Oli, who really caused them some problems in that period.

Overall a near fantastic night for the club, but the shine was just taken off with the injury Luke sustained. But a result dedicated to him, who started it all off with his contributions.

Myself and everyone associated with the club wishes Luke a speedy recovery. Since I signed Luke in January, he has been such a key figure and was instrumental in helping the club stay up, he's such a popular member of the dressing room and will be missed for the time he’s out. But however we can help and support Luke throughout his time out, we will."
